Guides for the moped and tractor licence theory tests
Choose the guide for your driving licence category. You will find the theory test structure, practice steps and a checklist for before the official test.
Teoriavalmis helps you practise, but always check official permit, training and test matters with Traficom, Ajovarma or the training provider.
The content applies to mainland Finland. It does not apply to Åland, which has its own road traffic legislation and its own driving licence authority.
Before the theory test
Check the official steps before booking
Use this list as a reminder. It does not replace the instructions of the authority or of an approved training provider.
- Check your driving licence permit and licence category
Check with Traficom which driving licence permit and test eligibility requirements apply to your licence category. Teoriavalmis does not apply for or process driving licence permits.
- First driving licence: check EAS
If you are taking your first driving licence, check before the theory test whether you need the training for people taking their first driving licence, known as EAS. Teoriavalmis does not provide EAS training or issue EAS certificates.
- Book the theory test through the official channel
Once the required permit and training matters are in order, the theory test is booked through Ajovarma's official booking service. Teoriavalmis does not book theory tests.
Practice
Break your practice into short rounds
- Practise topic by topic
Review the traffic rules for your licence category, traffic signs, anticipation and the driver's responsibilities calmly, one topic area at a time.
- Go back to the difficult parts
Keep track of which topics need more repetition. Practice and progress tracking in Teoriavalmis are available to signed-in users with active access.
- Use the practice exam for review
The practice exam helps you structure your preparation, but it is not the official theory test or a testing service provided by the authorities.
