Official steps
How to get the moped licence
- 1.
Apply for a driving licence permit
Your driving licence permit must be valid when you take the theory test.
- 2.
Complete EAS if required
If AM/120 is your first driving licence, complete the EAS training of four theory lessons with an approved training provider.
- 3.
Take the theory test
Book the theory test and check in Traficom's guidance which documents you need to bring. Appointments are currently booked through Ajovarma; from the start of 2027 the test will be organised, depending on the area, by Traficom's new contract partner (e.g. CityKuljettajat), and Ajovarma will continue only with practical driving tests and handling tests in Helsinki and Espoo.

Take the moped handling test
In addition to the theory test, the AM/120 driving examination includes a moped handling test.
