Traficom's new regulation: what changed for the moped licence

Traficom's new regulation on category L vehicles entered into force on 29 September 2026. The references in the moped licence content were switched, and the errors found during the review were corrected.

New regulation on 29 September 2026

On 29 September 2026, Traficom repealed its regulation on the construction and equipment of category L vehicles and issued a new one to replace it. A moped is a category L vehicle.

The rules taught to moped riders stayed the same, but the numbering of the provisions changed. I switched every reference to the new regulation, and no text or question for the moped or tractor licence relies on the old one any more.

The review found passages that said more than the source. The guidance on mirrors and the speedometer now depends on how the moped was approved. For example, a mirror has not been required on all older mopeds.

I also corrected the guidance on where the slow-moving vehicle sign goes on the trailer of a three-wheeled moped. The questions about the speedometer and this sign were rewritten.

The July version. The item now tells you to check the mirrors that your moped's approval requires.

Four new questions

The same update added four new moped licence questions on slippery conditions and visibility, along with the matching teaching content. One of the questions is about wet leaves on a bend. The changes were also checked separately against the sources before publication.

After the update, the moped licence had 18 topics and 254 theory questions, and the tractor licence 21 topics and 227 questions.
